Focus topic: Developing a Benefit Risk Assessment
From discussions across the state and beyond, many individuals and organisations are experiencing difficulty in the what’s, why’s and how’s around developing a Benefit Risk Assessment and are unclear about the type and depth of information required to carry this out effectively. These documents are critical to get right if you are currently providing or wanting to provide risk-based experiences for children within your program as they not only support the children’s safety, well-being and opportunities to engage in risk-based experiences, but also support your organisation’s effective management of risky play.

This first Network Group will be specifically focused on how to develop a benefit risk assessment and is suitable for educators, team leaders, managers and directors. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the process before taking part in developing a number of benefit risk assessments that link to their current programs.
This workshop will leave you with:
- Deeper understanding around the importance of an effective benefit risk assessment
- Clear understanding around the depth of information required to go into a benefit risk assessment and what the Regulatory Authority are looking for
- Clarity around the process of developing a benefit risk assessment to ensure those that use them understand them and carry them out effectively
- Strategies for including children and families in developing and implementing your benefit risk assessments
**please bring along a copy of one of your current completed risk assessments**
