“Marte Meo training is the most powerful, practical professional learning I have done.”

Rebecca – Marte Meo training participant with Gowrie Training & Consultancy, 2018

NEW 3 hour Marte Meo sessions – Launceston and Hobart

Marte Meo International is a film-based interaction analysis program now delivered in 50 countries. Founded by Maria Aarts, Netherlands, Marte Meo derives from Latin, meaning “ on one’s own strength.”

The Marte Meo method has been implemented in a variety of professions including education and care, teaching, health services, psychology, social services, nursing, and disability and aged care services.   Marte Meo provides specific information around supporting the social and emotional development of children in daily interaction moments.  It increases the capacity to read the developmental message behind behaviour, to activate development rather than to compensate problems.  It explores the social and emotional elements of the developmental process and supports children’s development in concrete and practical ways.

Joy Elford is a Licensed Marte Meo Supervisor who is based in South Australia. With a background in health, Joy has worked in Allied Health in a children’s hospital, as a clinician in Child and Family Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and in a hospital-based Child Protection Service.  Joy now works full time sharing the Marte Meo message and is currently training in the fields of childcare, education and supporting and training allied health practitioners working in both public and private arenas.

In this session Joy will:

  • introduce and discuss Marte Meo and
  • share practical examples of Marte Meo adult supportive communication techniques.

Participants will:

  • gain insight into the value of Marte Meo as a highly valuable and relevant approach to guiding their work with children.
  • Gain insight into the Marte Meo Supportive Communication Skills and how these can be incorporated into daily interaction moments when working with children

Participation in this session can count towards the attainment of Marte Meo ‘Practitioner’ Level for those participants who wish to proceed further with the six-day training program.
